Ironcore’s Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Services

With all of the natural and man-made disasters of late, the FFIEC continues to increase its focus on Business Continuity planning and testing. Changes in technology (Check 21), environment (floods, hurricanes, global warming), pandemics (bird flu) and cyber-terrorism, are all reasons that proper, in-depth and tested BCPs are now more important than ever before. Ironcore now offers a full menu of BCP options for banks and credit unions.

BCP Review

This is a high level, low cost overview of your existing BCP plan. This is not a detailed audit of your plan. We will look for significant gaps and weaknesses in your plan and provide suggestions for changes and revisions via a conference call. We also provide a 75 page BCP template that you may find useful for comparing to or rewriting your existing plan.

BCP Testing Assistance

Many banks struggle with testing BCP strategies. We can provide suggestions about what type of testing works best in your specific environment. Also, the FFIEC IT handbook says that BCP testing should be independently reviewed. IF we have not been involved in writing your BCP, we can provide plan testing assistance and review. Pricing for this service is determined based on the complexity and type of testing (tabletop, simulation, parallel processing, etc.) that you are utilizing. We can also assist you in documenting your testing results.

BCP Audits

This is a full scale, in-depth independent audit of your current BCP. This is provide by a third-party company (not Ironcore) that would NOT be involved in you plan’s design or testing. This company works with many other banks around the country.

Portable Contingency Facility

This is an annual subscription service that would provide a mobile contingency facility in the case of a major, long term facility disaster. This service is provided via a third-party company; Recovery Solutions. A separate document describes this service in greater detail.

Emergency Notification Software

This software provides a way to notify all employees, board members and others that an emergency exists to any identified user that has email, network connectivity or SMS phones. Emergency employee notification should be a part of every BCP, but few have a formal process to ensure that this happens. This product would be helpful for BCP testing and any other situation where everyone within the organization needs real time notification and updates for any reason.
